Community engaged learning refers to the pedagogical process of learning through experience in and with our local, regional, national, and international communities. Queen’s commits to community engaged learning that results in equitable, reciprocal, and mutually beneficial partnerships.

Refer to the ways to get involved to see some examples of ways that community engagement has been incorporated by Faculty members.

Please refer to the community engagement course supports available to faculty and staff to determine whether you feel prepared to assist in a community engagement reciprocal relationship.

Community engagement refers to a reciprocal relationship with a partner; it is mutually-beneficial. Community service refers to work that does engage with a community, although it usually favours the experience of one party (i.e. a student teacher observing a classroom).
