Melissa (she/her) leads the University Orientation, the First-Year Off-Campus Community (First-Year OCC) program, social media management, and other transition projects throughout the academic year. Melissa enjoys photography, travelling, and spending time with her nephews!

Coordinator, Peer Programs

Gabriela coordinates QSuccess, Peer Mentoring, and the MentorHUB. She has been a formal and informal mentor throughout her life and supporting others to find their strengths is a grounding and rewarding experience for her. She has a curious nature and likes trying new things all the time, whether it’s a new recipe, a new book, a new idea or a new place to travel.

Hanna (she/her) takes the lead on SOAR (Summer Orientation to Academics and Resources), as well as other engagement events throughout the academic year. These help students connect with each other and to resources and supports on campus. Outside of the SEO and when not traveling, she enjoys spending most of her time (and money) on her horse.

Danny (they/them) oversees leadership training opportunities for students, including the Gender-Based Violence Bystander Intervention Program (in partnership with the Human Rights and Equity Office) and the Empowered to Lead Program. In their spare time, Danny loves recommending and getting recommendations for books and playing video games.

Taryn (she/her) oversees the Queen's Shift Project, a collection of initiatives aimed at centering equity-deserving student experiences and contributing to a safer and more inclusive campus culture. In her free time, you can find her coaching soccer, camping, or playing music around Kingston. She loves connecting with students and learning about their Queen's experience. Feel free to reach out!

Laura's (she/her) role is split between SEO communications, website management, office administration, planning/logistical support for programming, and casual staff timekeeping. Laura works part-time, three days a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. She is here to help!

Coordinator, Student Leadership & Development

Taylor (she/her) is the point of contact in the office for student leadership and development-related initiatives. She oversees the Leadership Workshop Series, as well as the following three programs, which are in partnership with the Human Rights and Equity Office: the Gender-Based Violence Bystander Intervention Program, the Lead Include Transform (LIT) program, and the Action, Commitment, Transformation (ACT) certificate program. In her free time, Taylor can be found thrifting, hiking, gardening, and discussing social justice literature.

Alison (she/her) is the Marketing & Communications Student Lead where she oversees the support and promotion of various programs in the SEO. Her role impacts all areas of the student experience through the creation and management of social media content. Alison is going into her fourth year in Life Sciences and is in the Certificate in Law program here at Queen’s. In her free time, she can be found running, listening to music on her record player, or at the pier during sunset!

Annika (she/her) is the Mentorship Programs Student Lead at the Student Experience Office, supporting the QSuccess First-Year and Upper Year Peer Mentor Programs. Her projects include Mentor and Mentee recruitment, organizing and facilitating Mentor training sessions, updating and developing the MentorCity online training platform, providing ongoing Mentor and Mentee support, and more. Annika is going into her fourth-year of Concurrent Education with teachables in History and English. When she's not working, she can be found reading a good book, enjoying a cup of tea, or travelling way too far for live music!

Shift Project Student Lead is to support the development, planning, promotion and delivery of initiatives. These initiatives, driven by results from the Queen’s Shift Survey, aim to foster a healthy, safe, inclusive environment for all students, with a focus on equity deserving student groups. Cameron is pursuing her degree in Life Science, and enjoys reading, rock climbing, and baking in her free time.

Cassandra (she/her) is the Off-Campus Student Lead for the Off-Campus Community (OCC). This program is dedicated to supporting incoming first-year students living in Kingston and beyond. Cassandra is responsible for recruiting, hiring, and training Off-Campus Leaders and spearheading initiatives that promote community building, student engagement, and belonging among students living off-campus. This includes monthly socials, First Year Off-Campus Student Orientation and more!

Darina (she/her) is the Transition & Engagement Student Lead at the Student Experience Office. Her projects include hosting summer webinars on the Student Experience Office YouTube channel, managing content on Viva Engage, and supporting the Summer Orientation to Academics and Resources (SOAR). Darina is a Concurrent Education student entering the final year of her BEd – hoping to teach abroad in the future! Outside of school and work, Darina loves travelling, vanilla iced coffees, and exploring Ontario Provincial Parks!

Maddie (she/her) is the SOAR Student Lead, whose role entails of planning and executing the Summer Orientation to Academics and Resources (SOAR) programming, and supporting a team of Peer Ambassadors to foster meaningful mentorship to incoming students and their support systems. She is in her fourth year of Concurrent Education, with teachables in History and Geography - hoping to teach Gr. 12 in her future! Outside of work, Maddie enjoys spending time adventuring outdoors, attending concerts and musicals, and can never say no to an iced coffee!

Olivia (she/her) is the University Orientation Student Lead, which entails planning and organizing University Orientation events. She aims to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for incoming students during their transition to university. She is a third-year Concurrent Education student, with teachables in Math and Biology. In her spare time, she can be found tap dancing, enjoying a cup of tea, or spending time with her family and friends. Olivia is beyond excited to welcome the incoming class to Queen’s!

Zoë (she/her) is the Lead, Include, Transform (LIT) Student Lead, which entails organizing and overseeing the equity and oppression training program that focuses on positionality, intersectionality, privilege, and oppression to foster an equitable and educational environment for the Queen's community. She is in her fourth year as a Psychology major with a Sociology minor, and when she's not working, she loves to read, and spend time in nature, including hiking and swimming.
