This one-hour TELUS Health seminar helps participants build confidence and understanding in supporting a co-worker through a return-to-work transition. The session explores the emotional and psychological experiences of employees returning to work, clarifies the role of colleagues in creating a supportive environment, and offers practical strategies for respectful communication. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how to respond with empathy, professionalism, and care, while also recognizing the importance of supporting their own wellbeing when workplace dynamics shift.
The session is interactive and includes expert-led instruction, discussion, live polling, and Q&A.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Better understand the perceptions, emotions, and experiences of colleagues returning to work
- Clarify their role in supporting a co-worker during a return-to-work transition
- Identify what to say and what to avoid when a co-worker returns to work
- Recognize the importance of caring for their own wellbeing when a colleague goes off or returns to work
